....why did I do it, they told me at work id regret it but i went ahead anyway and now I look like a spaniel. Ive been curling my hair using my hair straightners and I really liked the look so I had my hair permed yesterday but its much tighter than the look I was going for and now I look like I have spaniel ears. Oh noooooo they are going to laugh at me at work, I hate it, please pray for me that it loosens.
Wahhhhhhhhh
....a halogen heater that is.....
....I tried my sat nav out today, I went up a country lane which I know I can get home by but Im always a little hazy as to which turnings I need to make so I thought perfect time to try it out. Well she took me up a dead end road to a farm and had to turn back and tried to get me to turn right into a field gate. I am not a happy bunny!
....to find Mermaid Pool. I even took a car picnic.
It wasn't as difficult to find as I thought, I couldnt stop long to take many pictures because it was so windy and biting cold and the light was going but here is my first erie shot of Mermaid Pool.
I love it up here theres something in the air that cant be described.
Here is a picture of the view from the Mermaid Pub over to The Roaches.
My next mission is to find Doxey Pool which is another pool on top of the Roaches which is also supposed to be bottomless and haunted by something.
.....where autumnchilde and Sophie layyyyyyyy.
Back home. Been dropped off by parents, with masses of dirty washing to do and a flat to tidy up and kitty litter to change etc etc etc. But boy is it good to be home! Every muscle and my back aches like hell. I cant sleep in my old bed its so soft its like a water bed and have had very little sleep.
Cant wait to dive into my nice double bed and snuggle with kitty and catch up on some sleep. We woke up to a thick frost this morning which was very festive. Im trying to drum up enthusiasm to venture out into the great beyond aka supermarket and get some food in.
You should see my fridge. Its full to the brim of chocolate but Ive got no food in at all. So I have to go out but can I face it. Yes I must or I will starve, I girl cant live on chocolate alone, but wouldnt it be fun to try.
I am desperate to try out my new satnav I had for crimbo. How exciting! no more getting lost for meeeeeeee.
Anyway gotta go.
Well its almost dinner time on Boxing Day and my other relatives have just gone. We have one side of the family on Christmas Day and then go through the whole thing again in Boxing Day.
Ill take some piccies tommorrow of some of my gifts but I had some sweet gifts. I had money, a bose soundock and a satnav off my parents oh and the cutest slipper mocasens ever!
Ive had heaps of alcohol. I think I will just hide it in a cupboard somewhere and pretend I havent got it. I really need to give it up when I get started on my course. Oh and chocolate too.
Tommorrow Im going home back to my flat and boy have I missed it. I must admit I cannot wait to put my feet up and do my own thing and have some peace and quiet. The cat has hidden most of Christmas on top of the wardrobe in my parents house, I think she will relax too.
...to my fellow voxers I hope Santa brought you everything you wanted.
squiffy. Day one proper at my parents, thank god I brought ye olde lappytop with me. I cant sleep in my old bed its too small, its too soft, and I just cant sleep. I miss my flat. The cat is totally confused. Oh well have this until boxing day. Oo good thing is though that at the weekend was reading the Radio Times and "Howls Moving Castle" is on! I love that film. Its by Hayao Miyazaki from Studio Ghibli and Spirited Away fame. Its a great film. Today I saw two versions of A Christmas Carol, the last half of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate factory, I mean the proper film the one with Gene Wilder in. And now im watching the boring as ditchwater "Midsomer Murders" *snore*.
Im boreddddddddddddddddddd
....that had my Kundalini Yoga dvd. See my previous comment about exactly which dvd it was. I didnt do it all, bascially because im so un-supple that I found it excruciating to sit cross legged for long, I really need to build up some crossed leg stamina. But the bits I did do, were really weird and it takes a while to get over the "i feel really dumb doing this" feeling and get "in the flow" but once I did It was amazing. I feel like somebody has taken a vacumn cleaner and sucked all the cotton wool out of my brain, I feel a lot more mentally spunky. It must be all the breathing in and out, but I feel really awake and it certainly has woken up my muscles.
I shall keep trying until I can do it all but I think surely even If I can only manage a little bit at a time, soon ill be able to sit crossed legged for much longer.
....I put my coat on and went for a drive. I drove all the way to Bakewell which is like an hours drive through the Staffordshire and Derbyshire countryside. It was nice, I got there walked around for a bit had a bag of chips (fries for my american readers..lol) and then drove home but I went back a different way. I went up onto the moors, I think its called morridge moor and it comes out at a pub called The Mermaid, its high up one of the highest pubs in the UK and has a fantastic view, you can see all the way across to the The Roaches and across into Cheshire I could see Jodrell Bank today also. I love being able to see that.
Anyway up there Ive known about this pond, its more of a puddle really, ive never found it before, I tell a lie ive never actively gone and seeked it out but knew it was up there. Theres two actually one called Blakemere aka Mermaid Pool and another called The Mermaids Pool up near Kinder Scout. I got home to find out that Blakemere "Mermaid Pool" was only like 1 min away from the Mermaid Public House and I was so close. So I definately want to go back and see it.
Basically both pools have got myths surrounding them, the one up by Kinder Scout people say has a link to the Atlantic Oceon (dont ask me how), it has a mermaid that comes out on the eve of Easter and if she likes you will give you long life but she can also pull you down into the water. They say that they never freeze over and that cattle and animals never drink out of them nor will birds fly over them. This is nonsense aparently but still its fascinating to pretend that there are mermaids in them. So over the week Im going to seek out the Blakemere one, the Kinder Scout one you have to go hiking to get to it. The bakemere one is alongside the road. Ill try and take photos.
